      mine had the tiny black vent whistles, took me forever to figure out that was why mine would launch, then bog. Fuel was going over those vent whistles and dumping in the carb. Put in the reg longer vent whistles and all was good.
      
      its a weird carb calibration.

      Did you go with the regular white Holley or the black quickfuel Vent whistle?
      I have a 950 street hp going on a 454 and had to check it after this thread and had those small baffles you describe(but white).

      I used one out of a QFT metering block. It was the black one. The stock one was maybe a1/4” at best.
