Ground Up Not Discounting Team Chevelle Anymore!

Ground Up, or SS396.com, is no longer supporting Team Chevelle.

I placed an order the other day and never got a discount. Emails went unanswered. Until I finally got one that stated that they no longer sponsor Team Chevelle. It was apparent that I was duped out of my 10% discount; so I put an item in the cart, and opened the Comment Section in the Checkout where it said to insert your user name for your 10% Team Chevelle discount, took a screen shot, and sent it to them. Now it's four days later and I get another reply stating that they no longer support Team Chevelle:

"Hi Mark,
I apologize for the inconvenience, we no longer sponsor TeamChevelle and that discount is not available. We credited you for the 10%discount on your order. Thank you for bringing this error to ourattention. We appreciate your business."

Just thought that you'd want to know. Yes, they removed Team Chevelle from the discounted site list at the Checkout. Team Camaro and Nasty Z/28 still remain as the only two left on the disount list.

I have received many offers from Ground Up lately, but even more from Ecklers. I have done significant business from GU but very little with Ecklers. Ecklers, to offer the steep discounts they are offering, must be in serious trouble.

NPD seems to be the supplier of choice.

Yeah, either NPD or Restoration World in Dayton, Oh. NPD's search engine is hosed up sometimes. Even something as trivial as leaving an "S" off to make the part singular will not yield good search results. I called one time because I just couldn't find the part I was after and the CSR had to go back in the warehouse to get the name of the part because he couldn't find it on the computer or catalog. Fun stuff! :)

If you put items in your cart, go to checkout, and then back out they will send an email asking if there's anything they can help with. I sent them a heart felt reply. >:)

Mark, unless I'm reading their email reply wrong, it sounds like they still gave a 10% discount on the order, "We credited you for the 10% discount on your order"...

I haven't checked yet, and I have no reason to doubt that they gave me the discount. It took several emails to get it though. I did everything correctly as stated on the Checkout instructions, but received no discount.

I use Ground up sometimes for big orders and I relied on that 10%. Now, they don't offer it anymore, and that was the reason for posting the FYI. Just to tell people that they don't offer a %10 discount.

I'm one of the lucky ones, GU is in the next town over from me so I just run down if I need something. I've had pretty good luck with them over the years even though others have not. I've been pretty much done doing things to my car for the last couple of years but every once in awhile something does come up but I don't limit myself from buying from others if I want too.

Even the free shipping was a "condition" based discount. When I had my nova I ordered a whole lot of stuff only to find out that "certain" parts didn't qualify towards that 299 for the free shipping. it was almost like if it was bigger than a small box or weighed more than a pound it did not qualify. It was really sad.

I use NPD and have for years. Their customer service is great. I always order over the phone to make sure there are no errors and that the parts are in stock. In general, if the parts are in stock and I order before noon I get it the next day.
Their Charlotte location is only about 3 hours away.

Summit Racing and NPD are my two that I use 99% of the time. Summit has free shipping on anything over $100.00. They also carry quite a bit. And will price match anyone.NPD is top notch also. Only way I am buying somewhere else is if either of those two don't carry it.

For me, GU discounts never seemed to apply for the things I was ordering, same with shipping discounts. I use NPD mostly now. I am a big fan of Summit, but since they now have a brick and mortar presence in Texas they have started charging sales tax. So... those purchases have shifted to Jegs. Its an ever changing landscape out there...

This has been true when I've done business with them also. GU's customer service has been pretty good, however.

I'm a Summit fan for life. Great prices, incredibly fast shipping (free if the order is over $100) refunds are NEVER an issue, in fact, they even pay return shipping! You don't even have to call for an authorization to return items. Hard to beat that. I have used a huge variety of vendors since the late 70's, and will look at NPD next time as well. Is this the same NPD that has been around since the 80's?

I too am dissatisfied with GU. Recently, they split up a small order in two, rather than waiting 2 more days for the $5 dollar part to come in, LIKE THEY SAY ON THEIR WEBSITE! Just to get a double shipping charge! I even called them to NOT to do that, and they said would wait to combine, AND DIDN'T! FFFFFFFFFFFF them! (rant over)

My .02. I just recently was informed about NPD by another member on a post and after dealing with them, they are first class to deal with, great selection and reasonable shipping. They will get my business in the future. Summit is really tough to beat with their selection of performance and aftermarket parts, JEGS is obviously right there too, but Summit's shipping takes the win and puts them on top. Not a huge fan of Ecklers, their shipping is slow and their shipping prices seem high compared to others, but thats just my experience.

Now that you can order OPGI/Resto Parts stuff through Summit, they get nearly all of my restoration parts business. When they don't have what I'm looking for, I go directly to NPD these days. I am DONE with Ground Up. OPGI is tolerable, but I don't like playing games with discount codes/outrageous shipping/backorders.

Obviously, Summit is my go-to for performance parts, with Jeg's a close second only because their website isn't that user friendly.

One knock I will give NPD is I find their website kind of difficult to use. The catalog style web pages are not user friendly. Either that or I am just to computer illiterate to use it proficiently. They were kind of late developing the website ordering. Summits website is the stuff.

I felt compelled to also praise Summits website, just great to use. I even use their app. Jegs is good too, but website pails in comparison. As far as GU goes I, like HKalin live local, and with that convenience they are hard to beat. It's been about 4 months since I bought anything but they gave me the 10%. I've had nothing but great service from them, and Theresa in particular has gone the extra mile for me. Perhaps next time you guys need something, try calling in your order, just to see if they give you the discount.
