Want to use the Edelbrock setup, but the filter is right up next to the runner on my old intake. The water hose nipple is in the way too. Suggestion? I think a spacer that would move the banjo fitting out a bit might work, but if I find one (maybe a fat washer?) would it leak? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Sorry about sideways pic. Don't know how to fix that. Thanks.
That fuel line looks like a flexible line.
You could make a bracket to hold it away from the fitting and use the front intake bolt to secure the bracket. Longer intake bolt will be needed.
Or how about cutting that fuel line and moving the filter somewhere else.
Thanks for the suggestions. Line from carb to filter is solid. Obviously, so is the filter. Can't move either out from the intake runner or water fitting. (unless I use a spacer at the banjo fitting)
End of the solid line is female. Both ends of the filter are male. One end of the black flexible line is female to fit the filter. Other end is male to fit in the pump. Can't think of a way to put the filter anyplace but where it was designed to go.
Get a tubing bender and bend the hard line on the carb about 1-1/2" below the banjo fitting to swing the lower half of the line and filter out toward the valvecover. Won't take much, not even a 15° bend, something like 7-10°.
I agree about getting it away from the intake/heat. At least In front of or higher up. Similar to what Jeff is suggesting, maybe another AN hose 4"-6" between the filter and the hard line to the carb putting the filter exit directly in front of the Intake? It would take a few more movements and If you have the hood clearance, put a 1/2" spacer under the carb? Mine is in a similar location but I have a 1" spacer so the filter sits above everything.
Just be careful with the spacer and height as you may induce some run issues which will require you to re-tune. Shouldn't be much. Usually 1/2" should be fine. Putting a 1" on my wife's 68 Camaro needed a slight Mixture screw tune and idle adjustment.
be careful about putting a spacer under the carb. hood clearance is an issue with these cars. if you do put a spaver under the carb, don't just slam the hood. many guys have a "learning opportunity" after they saw the carb stud sized bump in the hood after doing that.
