Augy, I finally get to see your all original AC L79. Never looked at your profile pic until now. Just curious how this car cleaned up without any paint work or interior work. I wish mine started off as clean as this one. Oh well just part of the fun I guess

Hello Augy, I am new to this site and put the post for the 14 inch wheels for my 64 in the lost and found section and someone deleted it with a message to post it in classifieds. I looked at the classifieds for 64-65 and there are 3 or 4 in 2018 and the rest are ancient history.

You asked why they are not restorable. The car sat in about a foot of leaves in northern New Jersey for 8 years and rusted so bad they look like rough granite! The bead areas are so rough they won't seat a tire.

I will do the CL list like you suggested. Thanks!!

Steve, is the stripe on the side of your car a factory painted on pinstripe, or a chrome strip molding?

    Cool project!

Very cool car. A friend and I once took a ride in a used '68 L79 Malibu that was for sale at Casey's Ford in Poulsbo, WA, back in late '71 or early '72. The car was burgundy with a black vinyl top and black bucket seat interior. It was very nicely equipped, as I recall. It had a console, factory roll tach gauges, an FM radio and probably some kind of mags. I do remember the ride we took with my buddy Bill driving and an old fat salesman riding shotgun. I was sitting behind Bill and every time he banged a gear the salesman would lurch forward and slam back into the seat. That car really ran good!! I do know it would have given my '68 L34 SS Chevelle (which I owned at that time) a real run for its money. Well, Bill couldn't afford the L79 Chevelle, which could have been had for about $1,500. Another guy bought the car and I recall riding in it a time or two. All I remember is that he didn't know how to drive.

All the best with your restoration project. I would love to have your '68.
