Hi, Jerry, I was writing a response to your posting about where you would consider moving and was prohibited from posting due to the moderators shutting that particular thread down. I guess it got to political. Anyway, her is the response I had written:

Yeah, we've (well mostly I've) thought about leaving here too, ever since the gray ponytails from Seattle and SF took over our county seat. But my family has lived around here for 120 years and the area is drop dead gorgeous, has a decent climate and has remained mostly rural and quiet. So I ignore the weirdos and peacefully do my own thing. You would certainly be welcome on the northeastern Olympic Peninsula. Come and check it out!

Yes, Jerry, it seems from checking out your home page that you do have a full shop!

And in response to your posting regarding the weld repair on a cylinder head you purchased: I've seen much worse. For example, one of the decks on the L78 block I'm presently running in my '69 has a weld repair where the factory root-ground and welded up what must have been porosity or a crack (of about 1" in length). This was done (of course) after the deck surface was broached so they must have hand-filed the weld to match the deck surface. The repair was far enough from the nearest cylinder or water jacket that I wasn't concerned about head gasket sealing, so I didn't even have the block surfaced, deciding (foolishly) to save the JD code letters and date rather than square up a block that could have benefitted from doing so.

    Take care,

Hi, Jerry. I'm betting your friend with the '69 L78 Chevelle for sale is the same guy who called on the rectangular port '66 L72 cylinder heads I had for sale on craigslist last week. When he called I had already gotten a firm telephone commitment on the heads so I couldn't in good conscience back out of that deal. But your friend (if he is the same guy) seemed like a great guy and I really enjoyed our brief conversation on our respective L78 Chevelles (he had two, a hardtop that had been sitting since '74 and a post car he was restoring). He, however, had to get back to his barbecue, so we weren't able to talk very long . I neglected to write down his name but his number is 503-621-8429. Is this the same guy?

Take care, and all the best to your friend,

Hello, I saw a very old thread about your BW radiator tag and wondered if you ever discovered any info? I am looking for a BW tag but haven't had much luck yet, thanks.

Just saw the old post about the 1966 Malibu rear cove emblem, I know it's been awhile but would you happen to still know where I can get that emblem from ? I know you can buy the insert but I'm missing the bezel and I'm building a frame off 1966 Canadian Malibu SS that needs that emblem. Sorry if I jacked into a different thread. Thanks Mark
