Hi, Hank, How's it going? Are you getting anxious for spring? We had a fairly mild-to-average winter out here in WA, but lately the weather has been warming a bit. I actually took my Chevelle out twice a couple of weeks ago and it ran real fine...scared the hell out of my cousin, who wasn't expecting it to be that fast or as violent as it is when shifting at 6,500-7,000 RPM. But then he was a Ford guy way back in the day. I recall he had a 390/4 Spd '67 Mercury Cyclone.

Hope you are well. Stay in touch, my friend.

    Ole

    Hank,

I very much liked the advice that you gave the South Dakota guy who bought a '68 SS Chevelle he later regretted buying. I understood and appreciated your own story of buying and "personalizing" your '71 Chevelle. Your car is very nice. I also bought my '69 sight unseen, although I had poured over so many photos and videos I knew the car pretty well by the time I paid for it. That said, (and many hours and $$ later) it is mine and is now pretty much the car I would have ordered from the factory if one could still order 1969 Chevelles.

Too bad I'm still not designing/building/installing submarine training equipment and regularly traveling to (Groton) Connecticut like I did from 1992-2007, as I would like to meet you and take a ride in your car. I have a cousin in New Canaan and used to drive down and visit her on weekends when working at NAVSUBSCOL and Electric Boat.

No, Hank, your stories don't bore me a bit, as I also love to listen to stories of the old days, and I can tell a few of my own too.

Very sad stories of your '69 car, but initial quality issues were quite typical of cars of that era. I am very fortunate to have my car's original block.

I remember having valve spring problems with the '68 L34. At that time, early in '71, Chevrolet had introduced a new valve spring, retainer and umbrella seal kit. The new kit had improved springs, with a round wire inner spring replacing the flat inner one the old design. Much better springs. I am running that same GM part number spring set on my L78 today.

After not owning a Chevelle for 15 years, I sure am enjoying this one. I think I'd enjoy visiting with you on the phone sometime. I have unlimited land line minutes so if you want to forward your number and a good (east coast) time to call, I could ring you up.

    Take care,
    Ole

Well, there are 4. When you look at the picture, don't forget two look like fuel lines, but are electrical. One is the factory one, and the other is the Sniper harness. Fuel lines are: 1. in the sump from mech pump 2. from the sump to the Sniper 3. from the Sniper returning to the sump 4. return to the fuel tank.

No, but I will. I thought you would have done it when I told you it came out really nice. Just looked at them, boy you don't realize how many lines there really are till you look at the pictures.

Nothing you most likely haven't seen already, but did you look at the fuel inj album I posted?

Yeah, I'm thinking that's the only thing that changed, that could possibly affect the dome light.
