I have an Edelbrock 1406 carb and 2101 Performa manifold. A friend said I should get a 3/4" to 1" spacer to give me more torque. I am using my Chevelle 350 for cruising only. Do I really need a spacer? Any advice would be appreciated.

The hood on my 67 Chevelle Malibu (Not SS) won't stay up in the open position. It drops about 4 inches and stays there. I purchased offshore springs but they were worse than the factory originals. Do the reproductions work well? The hinges seem OK. No loose rivets. Does anyone know of a source with the proper springs? Thanks.
