    Hi Steve,

I would like to thank you for the awesome write up on ignition.

If you have a few minutes I would just like to outline briefly the steps I am going to take after converting from points distributor with MSD streetfire. 67 SS396, mild solid cam, do these look resonable steps below?
-Set intial with vacum plugged at 15 degress
-Change centrifugal springs from heavy that supplied with distributor to medium and check at 3000 I have about 21 extra for total of 36
-Place supplied vacum stop plate on area "D" as the book shows this as 5-8 degrees stop which should equate to 10-16 crank degress
-check my vacum in HG, and adjust allen screw as per table specifications for 16 degress
    - run engine with vacum hooked up, rev to light and steady 3000 rpm and check I have no more than 52 degress
-after that any pinging or lack of snappiness I look at different spring combinations in centrifugal?

Much appreciated for your knowledge and review

    Hey Steve,

Just wanted to drop a PM and say thanks for putting together the Ignition 101 thread (way back). Just made some mods to the engine this past week, and I ran into deton.

I remember reading the thread when it came out...and just reread brain doesn't work anymore. I especially liked the info on the vac cans.

    Thanks for the contribution.
