holley sniper

i purchased a holley sniper efi system for my 1970 el camino ss396, came with the distributor, fuel pump for gas tank and unit , i hooked everything up i thought was correct and it starts fine but i cant shut it off , i have to unplug unit near box for it toturn off, i ran the red wire to ign terminal on fusebox cant figure it out, otherwise it runs great

alternator back feeding to your ignition circuit?

needs a light or diode to alternator exciter wire

That is the same direction I was thinking. Stock alternator and external regulator? Or has it been 'upgraded' at some point?

What was the previous ignition system? Stock or that too had been 'upgraded'.

And were those upgrades done by you or someone else? Lot of variables there to start with.

Sorry no Chevelle, 73 Cadillac Eldorado - Fairly stock low comp 500cid.
FiTech Go4 600 - Timing control via gutted 7 pin large cap HEI - Fuel RobbMc Powersurge with returns.
Previous system was Megasquirt w/Holley TBI so I am not new to DIY EFI

If there are any relays in the unit, make sure the #30 post goes to a battery only source and not to ignition terminal on fuse block. This will prevent any voltage feedback into the ignition circuit when the magnetic field collapses in the relay.
