Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

Thanks Phillip! That was pretty simple. The User CP is in the Tools menu for those that don't know. I got the following message after I logged out then back in:

Dear forum members,
Due to a security issue we will be resetting all users' passwords. This reset will be taking place between Tuesday June 21st - Thursday June 23rd.
Please ensure that the email address associated with your account is the correct email address and that you have access to this account. To check, go to: UserCP >> Edit Email and Password. Once the password reset has taken place, you will not be able to change anything on your account until you have successfully logged in. For more information please go to the site issues section.

Are they going to change it again, or am I okay now that I've changed my password? Also, where is the Site Issues Section that they mention at the end of the message?

Did all of the 400+ AutoGuide sites get hacked?
What are they (AutoGuide) going to do to protect us in the future, other than another password reset?

Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

I never got my temporary password, but I am still able to post this. I guess if I never log out I'll be fine?

If not, can someone please send me a temporary password, so I can make up my own 10-letter complex thing that I'll likely forget.

New password

I can tell you whoever you chose to do the new password change process is incompetent. I have been in this IT security environment for years and I have never seen anything this lame.

Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

I didn't log off, but as I came onto the site just now I was made to log back on, which I did with the new password I just received this afternoon. No biggy, it happens.

Where I used to work they had fairly strong password rules. You would virtually never reuse a password. Part of life in the I.T. world.

Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

I give up, have tried to reset password a number of times and it just rejects me! Don't know what to do now. Sort of like an old girl friend, get rejected and don't know what to do.

Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

I just spent 45 minutes trying to reset the goddamn thing. It wouldn't take the new one, even copy and pasted, timed out after 5 tries, yadda, yadda, yadda. I was ready to smash my keyboard. Oh yeah, nice touch to prove you are human to send you folks a message. instead of entering some crooked letters, I had to watch a commercial for insurance. Grrrrrrrr.

Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

Just did mine, changed the first time with no issues but mine has to be done every 180 days. members will need to be changed every 365 days and the password you create now will need to be entered to change it next year.

Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

*Sigh* I reset my password the other day because I got the notice from another forum. You could have at least checked when users last changed their password. Instead, you reset it to a weaker one and email it to me in plain text. Thanks.

Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

My new password reflects what I think of this chit.... Thanks for changing it again today. Anyone who needs to get ahold of me knows my email and phone number. I'm fed up with this place.

Authentication and pre-purchase inspection service still available. PM me for more information.

Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

I just logged on with the new password that they sent me.
No problem at all, I copied it from my email and pasted it into my User CP

Now to change it back to one of my own.

Let's see;
Must be at least 10 characters - check
Must contain lower-case characters - check
Must contain upper-case characters - check
Must contain numbers - check
Must contain symbols - check
