Edit Policy Not Necessary

I have been very vocal concerning the edit policy at Team Chevelle. The fact that one can only edit a post for 30 minutes is asinine and unecessary. That policy has caused me many issues. Especially when using a tablet as opposed to a desktop.
In a thread on this very subject a year ago the membership of Team Chevelle voted almost 4 to 1 to change the edit time from 1/2 your to 24 hours.
So how about listening to what the members of this site want.
I know a moderator can change any post. I have been posting on this site for 17 years and don't need the help of a moderator concerning constructing my posts. Just need my hands to be untied by the current edit policy.

Re: Edit Policy Not Necessary

Talk about beating a dead horse, we've been through this many times already

No need to go back later and edit, just proof read before posting.
If you post something that's not correct, just post a reply and admit you were wrong, everybody makes mistakes.

As 40 out of 89000 users responded to your earlier post ,we are listening to what the users want.
.005% of the users requested the change but 99.955% didn't respond at all.

89,252 but out of that how many are active? I agree that the edit policy is a bit unnerving at times but it is up to the site admin on how the site is run. Have you ever tried to run the site without the edit policy? I bet it won't be as bad as you think.

Your just jealous because you can't hear the voices!

Really Mike. So based on your logic and using the post in question that sample shows that 71,200 of the 89,000 would prefer the edit policy changed.

Dean, just because the administration prefers to ignore the wishes of the membership doesn't make the issue a " dead horse" in the eyes of the members. Just makes one more issue that contributes to the downfall of this website.

Re: Edit Policy Not Necessary

As Al stated when he made the "rule" years ago (which the time limit has already been increased on since and is plenty of time to correct mistakes.)

"Being able to go back and edit a post could make another member look like a fool."

There is just no good reason to go back and edit a post, NONE

Keep in mind that whatever gets posted on the WWW usually stays there forever.

Pretty typical turnout in a modern democracy (of course TC is not a democracy). I'll wager that those so-called users have very posts in total - they are readers, not contributors (for the most part).

Those of us who actively participate in TC and want to help others desire a change. AND A PRETTY SIMPLE ONE AT THAT!

Oops, I seem to have mis-spelled "squeaky." So sorry.

Dean,
That is just not true and if you really think so then NOBODY needs the power to edit posts. Not members, not moderators, not administrators. If there is no reason to edit then the power to edit by anyone should be removed.

I'm talking about going back and editing later.
Naturally there is a reason for editing to correct errors which can be done within the time limit allowed.
