Exceed limit posting pictures?

Tried to upload a single pic and get a message saying I've exceeded my quota by 11.78mb (the pic is <1mb).

So it appears there is a limit to how much bandwidth we can utilize posting photos. Not a problem... I noticed that several I recently posted were not resized to something more reasonable (eg 100 kb).

After some poking around I found a list in the CP showing my uploaded attachments. However, I cannot go back and delete them or resize them or edit the post in any way.

Am I missing something or do I need a moderator to assist me with every offending oversized photo?

If you want to be a paying member I think you get more space for attachments.

Re: Exceed limit posting pictures?

I dont think I've exceeded any of the stated limits as far as I can see.

5gb attachment storage
5gb photo storage
100 photo uploads

However assuming I did, I still cannot remove or resize pics I've previously posted.

Re: Exceed limit posting pictures?

My user CP says I am only using 57mb to store 27 uploaded attachments (all in threads, I have no photo albums). This is far under the stated limit for a regular user.

Maybe getting pictures and attachments confused.

You can go to Community > Pictures and Albums in the blue bar above and Create an Album in the right top corner. (Classic View)

Can you expand on your first statement? I dont see how creating an album is relevant to my problem. It's much more convenient to simply post straight from my phone..

I have some snapshots on my phone (that I cannot share) that might clarify.

1) When posting a picture in reply to a thread, it says verbatim "Exceeds your quota by 11.78 MB. Click here to view your attachments"
2) If I visit my user CP>>Miscellaneous>>Attachments, it says verbatim "Attachment Statistics You are currently using 59.42 MB to store 27 uploaded attachments."
3) Now if I visit membership level options Chevelles>>forums>>payments.php, it says verbatim that REGULAR MEMBERS (i.e. free) are allotted Attachment Storage 5 GB, Photo Storage 5 GB, and Photo Uploads 100 files

No matter how it's sliced, I am far under the maximum allowed for pictures AND attachments so why am I receiving the message?

Short of any logical explanation, if I could resize 20 or so of the recent photos I've posted from ~3 MB each down to <100 KB each then that would fix the issue for now.

If only we could edit our posts beyond the expired time limit. ...kidding here. But seriously...

Well you said pictures but you say you can not post an attachment which is why I said I think you are getting pictures and attachments confused.
Pictures, attachments and albums are different things.

BUT, I'm pretty sure that you can create an album like I said, add images and post them in forums.

Actually I don't see a limit on attachments for a non supporting member, I only see 5GB of Forum Storage Space.

I don't know how to see your attachments, maybe Mike does.

Dean, I appreciate you responding and sorry if my replies are not clearly articulated.

Semantics aside... I am referring to the act of replying to a forum topic/thread, and clicking on the paperclip icon to add (in my case) a photo to the reply. This has nothing to do with albums.

I created an album and successfully loaded three pictures. Will try to add one from the album to this post/reply

Huh? On my view it clearly says there is a 5 GB limit (each) for photos and attachments. See attached photo (maybe)....

Here is the BB code from the pic in my album

Here is the URL from the pic in my album https://www.chevelles.com/forums/mem...r-benefits.jpg

<edit>

So just to make sure, I once again tried to upload an image from my computer using the paperclip/attachment icon... I got the usual "exceeded quota" rejection notice.

I then 1) navigated to my albums (where I just created a new album), 2) uploaded the image to the album, 3) copied the image's BB code, 4) navigated back to this thread and pasted the code into the reply.

This method worked and the image is displayed for all to see however this is a very inconvenient work-around and does not solve the root problem. I hope there is a better solution.

Thanks again Dean.

Re: Exceed limit posting pictures?

Still trying to figure it out.
Where/how did you get that image and why is it different than the one I posted?

I see that you have 27 attachments.

That is weird. Private message storage limit is significantly different as well along with other things.
