Edit Time Limit- Poll

Many of you remember a time when a poster had 24 hours to edit a post. A few years ago that was changed to 30 minutes. Personally I find the 30 minute time limit very inconvenient. So let's see what the site members and users think. Vote on what YOU would like to see at Team Chevelle.

I agree.
Many other forums I frequent have NO time limit for editing.

Of course, this software is so far behind current formats.

Re: Edit Time Limit- Poll

Many 24 hour old posts are old news and the threads that they are in usually are already exhausted or changed in the opposite direction.

One vote for "leave it as is".

Re: Edit Time Limit- Poll

There is really no reason to change it since posters can always add a reply saying what ever they want even if it's a correction to a previous post.

Al made it the way it is to prevent someone from editing a post, making someone else look like a fool.

I say leave it alone

Re: Edit Time Limit- Poll

I'm crossed because I believe in both sides of the argument, but perhaps there can be a happy middle? Maybe bump it to 12 hrs or even 6. We are only human after all and sometimes it's very hard to say what we mean just by typing.

Re: Edit Time Limit- Poll

This is the only site that I go to that has a limit. Frankly, I never understood why?

On a side note, can we label the original poster's posts in a thread through the software so as not to have to keep going back to the first post to figure out who it is.

Sure someone could do that. How about being able to edit a post to keep one from looking like a fool?

Simple, think and proof read before hitting submit and don't worry about maybe being wrong.
Everyone is wrong at times. I was one time back in 1961.

Actually I've posted before then when I read it later thought "what in the H E double hockey sticks was I thinking"

Well, while we are here can we add a dislike button? Maybe it would reveille what the users like vs dislike. It might weigh in on some issues? Sorry just speaking out loud maybe it would help maybe it won't.

Re: Edit Time Limit- Poll

Anyone that edits a post of their own (whether its 30m, 24 hours or unlimited) will have an "edited" note at the bottom of their edited post. Most people can figure out what's going on by the edit. On the other hand, to suppose that another member may be made to look foolish is presumptuous and possibly seeking to prevent something that may not even be looked at the same way by the other member. The main thing is to remember to be courteous and have fun, we are big boys now and can take a little laugh every now and then. (Hope I didn't piss anyone off with this)

Re: Edit Time Limit- Poll

I made an ignorant comment a little while back about millennials that when I re-read it (over 24 hrs) I thought "what was I thinking" well 24 hrs wouldn't have helped, and I apologize to anyone offended, where's the insert foot in mouth icon?

Did any millennials even realize your comment was ignorant?
