Re: 69 Beaumont with Factory air

Sometimes it is the not recommended colour combos that really pop when you see them in person. I saw an article on a 1977 Trans Am that was ordered in yellow with red interior. The owner had to commit to buying it and sign a waiver that he wanted to override the color constraints. When the car arrived at the dealer and customers saw it, they wanted to buy it on the spot!

As for factory air on Beaumonts and Canadian-built Chevelles, it only appeared on the option list starting with the 1968 models. Prior to that it was offered only as a dealer installed Comfort Car unit with the underdash evaporator unit. I have not seen a/c on any Canadian-built A-bodies from the 1960s. Two exceptions: a Marina Blue 1967 Beaumont Sport Deluxe 396 convertible featured in Musclecar Review about 10 or so years back, but that car was retrofitted with numerous options during the restoration. The only factory-installed a/c setup on a 1960s Canadian A-body that I have heard of is that Puerto Rican 69 Beaumont that is pictured earlier in this thread.

I was going to swap out entire firewall on one of my 65 Beaumont or El Camino to OEM in-dash A/C using firewall from 65 Lemans, seam it using factory floor seams and sleaving the A pillar. Brackets and under hood stuff from 65 impala. It all would have looked correct for something not available.

Re: 69 Beaumont with Factory air

There was a black 67 running around here in the 80s that had a/c grafted in on the dash... It looked correct (but not original), other power options added too, it was a nice car, from the one time I saw it... Now it's sitting in a field from what I understand.

So the Puerto Rico Beaumont is up for sale again? Definitely a conversation peice.
