Re: Chevelle Beaumont???

In Canada the price of Chevrolet and Pontiac vehicles were about the same so Acadian and Beaumont were created to give Pontiac dealers equally priced products to Chevy II and Chevelle. Pontiac USA wouldn't allow them to be called Pontiac's but that's another story.

Similar thing at Ford price wise. Mercury was typically higher priced than Ford, so Ford Canada invented the Meteor and Monarch vehicles so each dealer could have equally priced products.

Essentially a Ford Monarch was about equal to a Mercury and a Mercury Meteor was about equal price with a Ford.

Similar thing at Chrysler regarding Dodge and Plymouth price and wheel base.

Thanks
Randy

Trivia:
My SS 454--M/22 (one owner) 1970 El Camino. They are the Red Headed stepchild of the Chevelles. LOOK real close, And you will notice the Word " Chevelle " ( in any form) is no where to be found on a 1970 El Camino.
Also my 70 Nomad Sta. Wgn. the word Chevelle is nowhere in sight.
Why is that ?

Not sure this what you're talking about but one thing I know is that on El Caminos, there was no "Chevelle" emblem in the front grille which was replaced with one saying "Chevrolet"... and also the El Caminos shared their front bumper with Monte Carlos (with round parking lights).

ElCaminos are listed as Chevrolet trucks and a 1970 Nomad is listed as a 1970 Chevrolet wagon.

I have never seen either listed in a Chevelle brochure.

Thanks
