Monaco Orange / White / White '69 SS396

Gorgeous car, too bad about the original motor but it's probably more fun with the 454.

I love the look of original GM door panels with the crisp pleats. Nice car...I would pay mid to high twenties for it. Not sure why so many SoCal cars were fitted with the rub strips on the doors and quarters, but when I lived out there they were really common.

But I have to ask, can it really be a one-owner car if a dealer is selling it? I suppose it could be a consignment.

I agree....the rub stripes....suck.

Can they be removed without damaging the paint?

Nice car, though.

One of my favorite color combos on any year Chevelle. Price seems in line.

The duct tape on the heater hoses is as bad as the rub strips. Nice car all the same.

Re: Monaco Orange / White / White '69 SS396

The new owner is going to be disappointed with the poor color match on the repaint. The opening bid is about as much as they should expect, but you know eBay.

As stated in the auction "According to Team Chevelle, the only colors available in 1969 for the Chevelle SS were 'Monaco Orange' (code 72) and 'Daytona Yellow' (code 73). These codes must appear on the trim or 'cowl' tag to be genuine." So all you guys who have SS396 optioned Chevelles that aren't must have clones!

Looks like a nice car in need of some detailing. The rub strips might able to be removed OK but who knows. The KY air brakes (mud flaps) as well, but the hood pins not so easy. From the pics I'd say the price should be mid to high 20's depending on quality of body work and paint.

Being a dealership, who ends up responsible for the sales tax after its sold? Or is that rolled into the sale price on ebay?

Re: Monaco Orange / White / White '69 SS396

those rubs strips will peel right off with a heat gun and some glue cutter. then add white side stripe kit and it would look awesomely correct and bring much more coin for a couple hours worth of work and effort

Re: Monaco Orange / White / White '69 SS396

If the car is on consignment then, in fact it could still be a one owner car. Good driver, wouldn't have any issue with it for that, but a bunch of issues that are visible. The dealer hype is pretty standard but not as bad as many that we have seen. I would like to see that partial build sheet. $ 25-27K even on a good ebay day.

I had those rub stripes on my camaro when we got it in the late 70s. It was on with double sided tape but had a rivet at the ends when you popped the end piece off, the rivet showed its ugly head.

I had them on a '78 Trans Am and they had rivets all the way down the door. 4-5 holes to repair if I remember correctly.
