I'm not much of a Ford guy but this thing is awesome. I love the idea of a column shifted 3-speed overdrive behind this engine...can you imagine trying to powershift with a column stalk?

From what I can see these Fords trail the 409 Impalas in market value by a considerable amount. What do you guys think it's worth? Cool old car for sure.

Not much of a Ford guy either, but did sell a 63 1/2 Ford Galaxie last year, in similar condition was a 390 car, but had a 428 Cobra Jet when sold, car was complete, interior was nicer, the 63 and a half cars are More in demand, car sat for 14 years in my yard, sold it for 3500, the 5K they are asking, well, there is an ass for every seat.

No Ford guy here either..... but when I was going to school before I went into the service, I had a buddy with a late 62 406 Tri-power 4-Speed. Man could that car smoke the tires.......That was the terror of the neighborhood.

Ideas are like children: there are none so wonderful as your own.

Re: '62 390 3x2 401hp Galaxie

Just reading in Hemming Muscle Machines ( July 2016 #155, p. 86) that a '62 Galaxie 500XL (top of the line?) with the 406, 3X2 and a 4-speed sold for $16k at Mecum Houston back in April... 406/4-speed would be MUCH more desirable, but admittedly, I don't know the condition...

Looking at the pictures ( is that lots of rust underneath), I'd tend to agree with Heyman... Its got clutch pedals, but otherwise...

Once you go RAT, you never go back...

Yeah Tony, if $16k buys you a restored Tri-Power 4-speed car I can't imagine this one is worth much more than the starting bid.

Wow, you could buy three or four of these for the price of a nicely restored 425hp 409....

50's/60's Fords are #3 for me. Not digging this particular body style. The next body style was a big improvement in my opinion. 64 Fairlane and the fastback Mustangs are the only ones that do it for me but they are all classics and that is cool.

If this were a '63 1/2 I would be all over it.

Being a Ford guy I would take this in a minute if I had the room. Maybe not the sleekest body design but something not seen everyday. Definitely a muscle car in its day. Sure not going be alot of them at cruises and shows.
