I just removed this from my 71 to install a moser 9’. Listed it for sale locally at best offer. Had a guy come by and offer me 2000.00 for it. With blown ring and pinion. Am I missing something? I told the guy I’d think about it and call him back this weekend. The parts chevelle I have that I took it out of originally a year ago came from allagash me. One owner car. 71 chevelle ss in rough rough condition as it’s been way up in Maine for its whole life and not registered or inspected since 1979. It is now in my shop And mostly disassembled. I’m just now getting Into restoring it slowly as a basically stock driver.
So far I’ve heard everything from local guys that are saying it’s not a ss because it has a bench and Column shifter. Canada never put 454 in chevelles. Ect ect. I’m not expecting much from it as I’m not sure I believe the guys story about the car but are gm 12 bolts worth this kind of money? Or did this guys just over offer? As I get into this car more I’m sure I’ll be asking a lot of questions as I’d like to put it back together original as possible and just drive it.

Some numbers off the rear end.

That was my thought. I purchased the whole car it came out of for 6k. But my dad said to ask around about it before letting it go. Seemed odd he offered so much. He was also driving a restored green 428 mustang when he stopped at my house to see it. My dads words when he left “ you don’t built a car like he has by over paying for junk parts” kind of made me think.

Here is a really strange thing.... looks like the 4.10 rear was only available with the LS6 in '71, and we know the LS6 never made it to production in Chevelles that year. Not sure what you really have there? <img src="http://www.chevelles.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Confused" class="inlineimg" /> If it was an "RV" and not "RW", that would make more sense.

There’s a long story with this car from the owner when I purchased it. So he says that he special ordered this car the way he wanted it in late 1970 with the help of his brother in-law who supposedly worked at the Canada plant. I dont know why but he didn’t go and get the car I till late Jan/feb of 71 supposedly because he was stuck working as a logger and couldn’t go up and get it.

The engine that was in it is rebuilt and in my 71.
How can I find out if this is the original engine and or rear end? Also trans that is still in that car is a th400. Column shift.

Wish you were closer. Craigslist around here has 10-bolts for up to $400...must be the ones made of gold. Last ten bolt I bought I paid $100 and gave it away before using it, now I need another one. LOL

As for the OP (while I have hard time taking advantage of people) if he made an offer of $2000, then that is what it's worth to him...sell it before he over pays someone else.
