#874 Z-16 Exhaust manifold A-8-5

Just bought an #874 exhaust manifold that is dated A-8-5. As soon as the guy pulled it out I noticed it looked funny, then noticed no bumps on top of the ports, thought to myself, there is no way. Flipped it over and it was dated January of 1965. Another difference is that there is a tube that goes into the cast bump in between the third and fourth ports. Manifold is in very good condition, all casted numbers easily readable. Any guess as to its value, I am pretty sure this manifold was Z-16 use only as vettes had there own manifolds and believe the high HP impalas used the vette manifolds.

Re: #874 Z-16 Exhaust manifold A-8-5

Chevrolet By The Numbers says you are spot on about that being a Z16 exhaust manifold. 66 and 67 with that casting number have the smog bumps. Don't know if 66 and 67 have the choke heat tube in them, but if they have the tube, it wouldn't take a lot to fake them for use on a 65 Z16.

I'm not a player here, but I'm thinking a real Z16 owner would rather have an original instead of a fake. I wouldn't be the least bit ashamed to ask 500 for it for a quick sale, but if you're not in a rush, it could be worth even more.

Congrats on the find.

I think FULL SIZE 65 Chevys also use this manifold. Thus, if so, it could have come from a full size car.

No, 65 full size 396/325 was 3856306, and 396/425 was 3856302

I believe the Corvette manifolds fit ONLY Corvettes. Jeff has listed above the casting numbers for 65 full-size cars.

Wrong-o. 65 Corvette and 65 396 425 horse passenger cars use the same ex manifolds. Do yourself a favor. Buy the Chevrolet By The Numbers series of books. There may be an error or two in them, but they have more information that is correct, and not just opinions.

Lot of errors in the 1965-1969 book and many things left out, but it is very handy, as no one can remember all them numbers.

First one - 1965 Passenger 306

Second - 1965 Corvette 301 and 302 repro

The passenger car manifold may work on a Chevelle. Never tried it.
