67 Chevelle steering wheel

I replaced my '67 Chevelle steering wheel because I wanted a leather wrapped wheel, and am wondering what the stock wheel is worth? It's in very good condition considering its age. I'd rate it at least a 7 or 8 out of ten. Thanks.

Re: 67 Chevelle steering wheel

If it was cheap enough I’d try re-hooping a smaller diameter wheel on it. I love my blue wheel but it’s so damn big.

Tighten it till it strips and back it off a quarter turn.

Re: 67 Chevelle steering wheel

OP here. I took the laced-on type of cover off the steering wheel (which was not on it in the photos) and upon closer look, I'd rate the condition at 9 out of 10. There are no cracks in the wheel, and only minor hairline scratches on the chrome spokes as you would expect from normal use. I'd appreciate any opinions on the value of it.

Don't know what it would be worth, but would take it off your hands...

As the old saying goes, "for the right price, everything is for sale".

Re: 67 Chevelle steering wheel

I picked one up at a swap meet for my son-in-law's 67 for $50.00. He'll paint it to match his interior color.

Re: 67 Chevelle steering wheel

I paid $100 for a original 66 wheel / horn assembly in the same condition (9 outta 10) you described from a local guy selling other 66 stuff on Craigslist.

I'm sure you could get more than that online if you wanted to pack & ship, but I don't know how much more.
Either way you are not going to get rich selling it, so maybe hang onto it to help return your ride back to stock someday? (depending on what other modifications your ride has)

I considered saving it for the day I sell it. The car has had four previous owners (one guy owned it twice). The second time he bought it back the previous owner had installed a flat steering wheel to accommodate his "robust" figure. Fortunately the robust owner had saved the stock wheel since the "new" second owner wanted to return it to the stock look. I know I'll never reinstall the stock wheel. I like the feel of the new leather wheel and the slightly smaller diameter.
