65 front cap

I traded up on 2 1964 Malibu's and the roller 64 has 65 front cap. I'm going to sell the complete front cap off it. The cap is in good condition with surface rust and fenders have some rust down lower by door. has a good grill and decent bumper. I'm going to get pics and try to load them on here. What I need to know is what would a complete front cap be worth..complete with core support, hood, fenders, grill and headlights and bumper.

Re: 65 front cap

prices are really had to put on stuff like this, the problem is finding a guy that needs it. couple years ago a guy was parting a 67 el camino, I bought the entire front clip which was really nice to put on my 66. ended up keeping the 66 stock, I think I got 500? for the complete clip. jim

Re: 65 front cap

before selling it, I would make sure you.can find a 64 clip to replace it. try a for trade ad, some guys like 65 better than 64s might find a 64 owner to trade. jim

Re: 65 front cap

you could probably get more back selling it as a complete roller vs selling the clip then trying to sell what's left, even after pulling whatever you need off the car.
but price wise, maybe start at $500 and see if you get any calls. jim

Re: 65 front cap

When you advertise list it as a front clip instead of calling it a cap, we knew what you were talking about but clip is a much more common term for the front section of a car. You are likely to get more bites that way.

Re: 65 front cap

I always called them front clips and years ago had to ask someone here what a doghouse was.
He told me the dogs use to stay under the removed front clips is how they got the name.
