What a beauty. It was like driving around in a "Glass House".

There was one for sale here locally $6500.

It's not here anymore so someone must have bought it.

Re: OT: My dream MOPAR (sort of) car up for auction!

I remember the Pacer they used to introduce the Pacer at the Toronto Auto Show in '75. It was dark red metallic with twin white vinyl top sections. I thought to myself, yes dropping the Javelin & bringing out the Pacer sure was a direction change... They were supposed to buy rotary engines from GM to power the Pacer & also what became known as the Monza (the Chaparral name was considered but they didn't want to pay royalties). After investing millions GM cancelled the rotary engine program abruptly in the late summer of '74, forcing Chevy to hastily shoe-horn a 262 V8 into the Monza & AMC to modify the Pacer for the in-line sixes.

I drove around a bit in a '77 Pacer wagon. It wasn't a bad car at all. Top engine was a 258 2-barrel that year but a 304 was offered starting with the '78s, which meant ugly hoods but better cooling.
A neighbor traded his '69 Firebird for a '76 Pacer, which he rolled & both he & his daughter were unhurt. They replaced it with another new '76 Pacer.

Re: OT: My dream MOPAR (sort of) car up for auction!

Along the lines of me getting schooled; what is the meaning of the title - "My dream MOPAR (sort of)"

What did MOPAR have to do with the Pacer?

Re: OT: My dream MOPAR (sort of) car up for auction!

I had a 76 Pacer in IIRC 84, paid a friends mom $75 for it with a new battery, we drove it for a few months and I sold it on payments for $150 with $75 dwn. had to repo it then sold it again the same way to my BIL, had to repo it again (long story) and drove it until something expensive (trans?) started going bad and drove it to the JY and pulled the battery and got a few bucks for it ($25-$50?) I think it's the only car I ever really made any money on lol and never noticed about 1 door being longer I don't think? and I bet you couldn't find a blind spot in the "fish bowl" we use to call it

Re: OT: My dream MOPAR (sort of) car up for auction!

I had a Hornet that would have been cool to do something with, but it rotted faster than I could patch it. AMC was kinda desperate near the end. I guess the All Makes Combined designers were working at the peak of the cocaine craze. The only one I would like to have today would be the Eagle. It was way ahead of it's time.

Re: OT: My dream MOPAR (sort of) car up for auction!

A very good friends dad was the body shop manager at a local Jeep AMC Renualt dealership late 70's early 80's and drove an eagle and took me for a few rides in it, very comfortable 4 whl drive car that was like a truck

Check my garage for my Gremlin waiting for it's day...

Gremlin X did not come with a 304. V8 was an option.

After Renault invested, then Chrysler bought AMC which was branded Jeep Eagle, but never sold the Pacer.
