Question 1970 454 ls3 date h20 9

Hello, I have a 454 LS3 with a date of Aug 20 1969. it is complete except for the Quadrajet. It runs but needs valve stem seals for sure. It has around 89,000 original miles and has been in my shop for nearly 30 years. I am wondering why I saved it this long and what it may be worth if I were to sell it. Any advice would be greatly helpful. Thanks to anyone who can give some info.

LS3 is a 402, not a 454. Also, it would be good to pop a valve cover and type the head casting and dates. The suffix code should be typed also, these photos don't really help much.

OK, I am 71 and my memory is not the best when it is something that I have not messed with for awhile. The number stamped on the block pad at the pass. side front is TO822CGV which indicates a 454.

The 290 heads and the date code on them make sense. They were on some 69's and 70's. Oval port heads. Would you have a photo of that block stamp?

What you have there is probably a LS4 "512" 2 bolt block (3963512).
(VIN may be stamped by the oil boss)

Like I said earlier I had forgotten about the series LS 3,4 or 5 because I have accumulated all of them including a 6, which is long gone. But the casting # is H20 9 which is Aug 20 1969 and the Stamped ID # is TO822CGV. That # is on the pass front block pad. I haven't looked for a # near the oil boss. I will try to include a pic.

CGV is a 1970- 454, 345hp Manual- LS-4 I like the 290's, used on LS5 also. Provided this motor is a rebuildable core and not knowing the block casting #I'd put you at between 800-1800.00, what is the intake #? If you can get that VIN # off of the deck, that could be your money maker.

Now just a block casting number will tell the story. Should be on the rear top of the block by where the bell housing bolts up.

It's a 512 454 block, complete unmolested pullout from a 70 caprice. You'd probably get 2500-3000 on ebay.

Wondering how you came to this conclusion without a casting # provided by OP? No Vin stamp? ( Could be a Corvette motor?) How can you call it complete without original carb: (7040200EE), no intake casting info by OP( 3855287), No Exhaust Manifold info: (should be: Left Side: 3914613 Exhaust Manifold Right Side: 3916178): Thermostat Housing: 3877660.

And how can you call it "Unmolested" without a complete teardown and hands-on inspection?

Because I helped him pull it out of the car in November 1990.
