The parts might be better off in the hands of a NOS person(nut?), because I also need a tranny and driveshaft just for starters...then upgrade the 10 bolt....front disc brakes....and on and on

I've done everything you have mentioned, except I built a stout SB400 instead of a BB. I specifically built a SB400 because the car was equipped with factory PS, PB, air cond (plus, I had 4 rebuildable 400 cores), thus a very healthy SB was a natural drop-in bolt-in. Also, I kept the original drum brakes and upgraded the front drums with big Buick alum finned drums. Stops great!
All the things you mention are easy to add.

(If you were much closer, I could probably fix you up with a bell housing, flywheel, Muncie and MAYBE a drive shaft-----------I don't know if I have clutch linkage)

Re: 70 Cowl hood air cleaner & parts - are they real?

I would go with a cowl hood on the chevelle ( my 70 has one) but why install NOS set up on a car that was never equipped with it, when repop stuff while not 100% correct is available pretty cheap. Sell the original stuff for a boatload of money, better yet, offer it up in trade for a running 454 and a good 12 bolt and a 4 speed. Someone doing g a nut and bolt restoration on a LS6 will probably pay a premium for NOS stuff. That would go a long way to finance the build of the car.
If all the NOS stuff is installed on the malibu, it's not going to make the car worth any more to anyone vs having a reproduction hood. Heck 99% people wouldnt k ow a original or a factory part. And the 1% that does will say your car never came with a cowl hood anyway. jim

What kind of money could these parts be sold for? Realistically .

You should install those rare NOS parts on that Malibu. I built an SS optioned Malibu with a fully functioning CI hood. Nothing cooler that that operating.

Tom, post that link of your CI in operation!

GOD, that's a good looking car! I have a set of those 5-spoke wheels and I almost put them on. But I eventually opted for the 15x8 Corvette Ralleys, only because I wanted a wider 8in wheel.

I'm not sure which video you wanted, so here is 2.

Re: 70 Cowl hood air cleaner & parts - are they real?

Very cool guys. I have no idea what the parts would go for because there is really nothing out there for sale except some used items on ebay, which you never know what you're really getting until it's too late. This is not a big budget build due to college tuition and some health issues in the family, but this Malibu was too affordable to pass up. I always say it's better to ask forgiveness then to ask permission.

I have a 65-66 M-21 with a hurst shifter that I want to trade for an turbo 350 or 400. My 17 year old son is going to get involved in this project and he really wants an automatic. The first Chevelle I ever owned back in 1978 was a 72 with the horseshoe shifter, so I think that's the route.

I know there are other posts on the rear end, but with a projected 350-400hp, I am thinking that the 10 bolt I have being updated to a posi unit would be acceptable for a street driver. We'll see once I get that apart.

I'll bet you could get $2500 easy for the hood alone, and who knows about the other parts.

See my video above------------------------then think twice about NOT going with an auto tranny (which should be thrown in the river).

That doesn't appear to be working correctly. Flapper only opens at full throttle.

Also, there are 2 flaps involved with a CI hood. The inner flap is activated by a switch on the gas pedal rod.
