Re: 1970 SS on ebay, Worth it?

At first glance it looks interesting. When you are spending $50k on one of these cars you are in the territory where things should be correct. If it was $30k then you could expect things to be not totally correct. The pictures pretty much tell the story right down to the copy of a build sheet. If they actually had the original build sheet they would have showed that instead of a fake photo copy. There is something wrong in almost every photo if you know what to look for. The car is over priced for what it is.

I like the color. It looks nice. A 468 engine--with a 396 driveline? Wheels, Master Cyl, grill, Valve covers,Etc,Etc. needs some detailing to make it look like a real 70 or to match the " ORG "....DAAaaa)= build sheet. The org. C-60 was converted to R-134. They did not change the condenser, With that being said it will NOT KOOL well unless you are going at least 35//40 M.P.H. Not quite my cup of tea.
Its all about, What you like????.................

Thanks for the comments. Even for a rookie like me, I caught some issues...Whats the issue with the build sheet? Fake or handmade?

It came with a black bench seat. The buckets and aftermarket console look a little hokey with the shifter on the column. The exhaust, trans pan, rear yoke hardware, rear upper control arms, hydroboost and radiator don't really fit in with the "restoration" theme. Price is too high considering the mistakes.

The trunk lid is 71/72

There's nothing wrong with being stupid as long as you know you're stupid, it's when you're stupid and don't know it that you become dangerous.

That's a really clean nice build sheet for a 50 yr old car, $50K is steep IMO

Beautiful car… There might be a few "mistakes" like the purists would say but it always comes down to this: You can't build one for that price. period.

I like the color a lot.

Tighten it till it strips and back it off a quarter turn.

I love the car and the color as well. The dealer is asking a reasonable price in my opinion(remember...he is a dealer) as he has to make a buck to keep his doors open. A 40K-45K car all day long as I see it.

I've spent most of my money on women and guns. The rest I just wasted...

^^^^^ is one of the top reasons not to buy a classic car from a dealer. There are other good reasons but inflated prices are enough for me.

Like I said: The price is ok. Not a bargain but not a ripoff either, just a realistic price for a gorgeous car.
