Steering column?

I have this column out of my '67 that is a 3 speed, non SS complete with wheel. It has 36,000 miles on it and is pretty mint. I thought I would ask 175.00 for it and have gotten no replies. Am I off base?

Re: Steering column?

Nothing wrong with the price. Its just that most guys with a 67 (1 year only I believe) probably already has a steering column in thier cars. And if they are planning on replacing one, they probably want a floor shift column.
If I had a 67, I'd buy it for the wheel. Wish I could find a nice 66 column. Jim

Re: Steering column?

Itís best to split up the wheel and column. Together they are a hard sell and difficult to ship together. THe column will take a while to sell, itís not a high demand item, but it will be hard to find for the person that needs it. If it were mine, Iíd research the wheel, set its price, then adjust the asking price for the column to bring you to your desired amount.

Re: Steering column?

thanks guys, I have been offered 75.00 for the wheel, I wasn't really inclined to accept it because I think it's the money part of the entire deal. I just might separate the two as suggested.

Re: Steering column?

If you were closer I would happily buy the whole thing for $175, but shipping would be a pain, and almost every column that has ever been shipped to me has gotten damaged to some degree during shipping, unless it was sent in a thick PVC pipe. I think the delivery guys can't resist slinging them around like a golf club, with the heavy (upper) end down, so they get bashed.

Re: Steering column?

I bought my tilt floor shift column on ebay. The wheel was pulled and in a different box. The column was so poorly packed that I couldn't believe it didn't get damaged. It was half way out of the box. I sold my column shift column on CL but it took a long time.
