Re: 70 Restomod. Like Or No Like

My first thought is why waste $17,000 on a 396?

When finished, it will be a nice build, but the red is a turn off.

Jackie, I'm glad you brought that up. The 537 (hp I assume) from a 396 is possible but wouldn't be very street friendly. I suspect a little fudging of the number.

There might be several reasons for that…like maybe the guy already had the 396… but frankly, who really cares about how many cubic inches it has?… It's a car that will likely never see a race track so it's not really important. What's important is that the engine looks good.

Credit card or cash most likely. Maybe a bank check. Doubtful a personal check would be accepted, but, hey, it's possible I suppose if you don't get your engine until the check clears the bank.

Simple: … because stock is boring after a while.

Overpriced. Also, its a Pro Touring car, not a Restomod.

Agree that its overpriced but it is definitely not a protouring car, 4 wheel disc brakes, hotchkis and bigger wheels do no equal protouring. Restomod is the right description.

Re: 70 Restomod. Like Or No Like

Well although I am not stock I am closer to it than not. I'll say this much for stock. It has and does stand the test of time. Resto mod and/or Pro Touring will look very dated in short order.

Sorry Mike, I wasn't talking about your car specifically… Yours is an exception, a reference for those looking for the "perfect" stock '69 Chevelle. What I find though is that when I go to Chevelles shows (Maryland, Ohio, etc…), is that after having looked at maybe 5~6 "numbers matching" Chevelles, I have the feeling that I've seen them all… as opposed to the "custom" or "non-original" section where you see lots of Chevelles but there are no two alike.
Regards,
Claude.
