Re: IS this a legitimate 66 SS or?

Need a VIN tag pic to know for certain.

Emblem misplacement could be due to prior amateur body work/assembly.

Trunk emblem is not correct for an SS but again - improper prior repair/assembly.

Based on the VIN shown in the auction, yes.

I would need to see the VIN TAG on the A pillar jamb matching the registry docs AND the TITLE - NOT just the trim tag.

I'm surprised Ebay allowed this auction to pass, unless they changed their policy, the sellers phone number is in the description,I tried to use the @ symbol in one of my auction descriptions and they wouldn't allow it?

Well in this case it has the first five digits of the vin which include the body series number which is 138.

bottom of the hood is pretty shiny.new hood?red dash? and what is with the big "13" on the trim tag??those floors look awfully clean too, looks like it got floors i would want to check the trunk floor and 1/4s before i put a bid in.but all in all it could be a real 138.

Almost all Atlanta trim tags have a hand-stamped number on them Its meaning isn't factually known but it is suspected to be an inspector's stamp from Fisher Body. The car has been around awhile, I have it in my database from January of 2011 in pretty much the same state.

Re: IS this a legitimate 66 SS or?

No paint on the trim tag although its all over the wiper washer next to it. Floors have been cut up as well as the hump. Who cares what what the trim tag says 200 bucks gets you one saying anything you want in a week. Made to look like a barn find but its has a lot of recent work done. My guess nothing is number matching either but its just my opinion and we all know about them....

Yes it is.

On Jul-16-19 at 16:13:15 PDT, seller added the following information:
Thanks everyone for all the calls and interest in the car. I wanted to answer some repeated questions im getting and add some more info. 1st the car is painted black now with red paint in the interior. The factory color code for it was marina blue with black interior. The floor pans have been patched. Someone in an attempt at restoration some years ago cut out the rust and welded what appears to be pieces of another floor pan in place. It was not a whole new floor pan. The trunk pan appears to have been cut and replaced entirely. The good of this is the rust is gone. The bad is that the work looks amateur. It does not look professional. It will suffice as a driver car, but to be a show car it would need new floor and trunk pans in my opinion. Again the only rust left in the car that i am aware of is behind the rear glass on the bottom of both sides, and it is not rusted completely through in those places. All the sheet metal appears to be period correct except for the inner front fenders which have been replaced. I believe the rear quarters to be true to the car. I have found no evidence of them being replaced. There is no wiring harness in the car. I will be lowering my reserve to $14,000.00 to hopefully open up the bidding. Again thanks for the interest.
