LS-6 cowl air cleaner

I have a barn find (dirty garage) 70 LS6 air cleaner that’s in great condition. I plan on selling it on eBay, what do you think I should put on as a reserve? I couldn’t really find anything real to compare it to. Thanks

No dents, dings or rust. I left it dirty just in case somebody has a barn find car for the air cleaner

Re: LS-6 cowl air cleaner

Instead of listing it on Ebay you could list it in the classifieds here. The advantage of that is no time limit and no listing or selling fee. There is a regular classifieds and a temporary classifieds. This site gets good traffic.

Re: LS-6 cowl air cleaner

I'd put it on ebay and let them fight over it.. I'm not an expert... but I'd start bidding at $800..

Very accurate repros are widely available now, which demolishes the rarity aspect/pricing. The repros are in the 150-165 range, 30 more for the rubber ring.

Unless a high-roller has a 100% museum-worthy example headed to Pebble Beach Concours judging that wants an original for a spare, there may be a very limited market.

Nothing is more cruel than false hopes, so ask whatever you like, but don't get too starry-eyed in your expectations.

Good luck!

Keep in mind those decals mean nothing, as many Chevelles had Cowl Induction, not just the LS-6. Decals do not make it authentic.

If it's legit, they go 5-800 bucks depending on condition. I think you're looking at 5, but I'm not convinced it's an original at this point. Need more pictures.

Re: LS-6 cowl air cleaner

my original air cleaner on my Chevelle doesn't have the pipe made into the bottom, it is a seperate pipe. Now i have a new gm over the counter air cleaner that has the pipe made on the air cleaner.. I don't think its a" born with" piece. at least not for a Chevelle. my .02 cents

Re: LS-6 cowl air cleaner

Both of my LS-5 drop base, open element stock air cleaners have the pipe attached to the base. The hose goes to the right V. Cover. The 70- C.I. air cleaners may be different, Never had one.....Dont know?????

Re: LS-6 cowl air cleaner

You should look on ebay for a 69 ashtray. They are repop'd, less than $100, and people are sandblasting their PLASTIC ashtray faces, sandblasting the rest of the ashtray and trying to ask $200.

I restored a couple ashtrays, removing the original paint, replacing the original rivets, and making them look new...which was a much better deal than a destroyed ashtray for $200.
