Re: Found another 70

The dash carrier/ housing is from a Monte Carlo. You can easily see this where the wiper switch goes. I can also see where the other holes were in the dash that were on the Monte dashes.

Re: Found another 70

Assume itís a clone unless proven otherwise, there is no mention of documentation or matching numbers. If you donít care, then let the car stands or fall on its condition, alone. Do you want a real SS or a Chevelle that looks like one? Itís your hard earned money, know whatís important to you before you part with some of it.

One pet peeve, I hate when sellers use the word ďcorrectĒ, itís an open ended word that doesnít mean much of anything, especially when used to describing muscle cars. Itís often used to deceive buyers by putting them at ease. Itís similar to complimenting someone then immediately saying, but, them proceeding to insult and criticize them.

Re: Found another 70

I also believe that it is a clone. The seat belt retractors are rubbing on the lower seat panels. This happens when you use the two piece kit when installing the floor brackets that bucket seats mount to. Wrong knobs on the slide tracks. They should be chrome knobs. The lower seat panels have chrome on them, which they should not on a Chevelle.

I like the look of the other one better personally. I think both are a little overpriced without documentation. I myself dont fret over the the wrong slider knobs and stuff like that. Maybe if I was looking for a 100% factory original matching numbers car I would. I think you need to find a car that you like at a price your comfortable with.

Another repop hood and signs of Farfignugin near the left side trunk drop offs. Paint is blistered, maybe they used a torch to cut section out.

TOO MUCH $$$. Offer him $32,000.................................Then run. Seriously though, I wouldn't pay more.

Re: Found another 70

I talked to this guy about 8 years ago on a Chevelle he had for sale and he was very vague on information and would side step questions. Had an inspection done on car before buying, he was asking 30k at the time for 69 SS clone ie no paperwork and not numbers matching but he kept calling it an SS. Inspection found shoddy body work and paint so be careful.

Re: Found another 70

I saw no pictures of things like the trim tag or engine stamps. The steering wheel appears to be a reproduction from the picture. The grain does not look correct. It looks to have a pebble grain. The catch inside the console for the hook on the lock is a 71/72 piece, not correct for a 70. I must say that it is a very sharp looking car.

Re: Found another 70

The fender SS emblems look too far apart. They should only be 1/4 inch apart.

Re: Found another 70

I agree, I would change a few things. I would REMOVE the 1971/72 " WHITE FACE " radio, ( Get a GREEN FACE 70 Radio) Then I would get a 1970 Master Cyl. The Alt. Bracket is not a 1970???
What is that ground wire doing on the Alt. bracket???? What are all the stickers on the drivers door for??
My A/C brackets on my one owner 70 are a bit different than this Gold 70. I would like to see some date codes and part numbers. He most likley wants 30//35. He needs room to come down so some " Nut Case " will think,,,,,
" BOY, Did I beat him up. I got it for 41 Grand.........
Where is the GREEN " Mr Yuck " sticker when you need one?
Bob

Re: Found another 70

I'll admit to not being a 70 model expert to begin with, so if I'm wrong just disregard. But, is the rear sway bar on a 70 that small? Or, does it just appear to be small in the picture? The one on my 67 SS looks huge compared to that one. Might be the angle of the picture. If you are looking for a 70 I'd be glad to post a few links if I come across any good ones.
