Can't tell for sure if the his is correct without knowing when it was built. I have an LS6 built in mid February. They changed design of the hood in March and would've been completely changed over to the new design my late March to Early April.

Meant to attach this Pic. Notice how much of a V there was on the cut outs.

Car is also listed on ebay with 41 bids so far with a high bid of 42,600. No "buy it now" price, but the reserve has not yet been reached.

Can you tell if it's a gm hood and not a repo
I am not worried it is correct with the date of the care but want to make sure it is gm

Re: Looking at this 70

The dash and the steering wheel are reproductions. The carpet is not cut correctly on the drivers side of the console where the shift cable goes through the floor. That cable looks exposed. No door panel medallions. The underside of the head rest liner on the passenger seat appears to be brown in color. The lower seat panels have chrome trim on them. A Chevelle should not have trim on the lower panels. The knobs for the seat slide tracks are black, they should be chrome on a 1970.

Thank you for the input
I figured the cluster was a repo,but wasn't sure

It looks to me like there are some details on the car that are not perfect
To be ohnest I am not looking for a concourse ,perfect car
I am however looking for a quality built
Car that the body is in great shape, don't have to worry about rust popping through soon after getting it home

This looks to me like a solid driver
Looking at the pics under the car it looks to be solid and in good shape

In your opinion will this fit the bill for me

Re: Looking at this 70

That's a reproduction hood. They got it to fit pretty nicely except across the chrome strip line up at the fenders. If you're talking about build quality the car looks really nice. It has the incorrect brake master cylinder for a 70. I really haven''t torn into it, but she looks nice. You'll probably end up paying 10-15 grand more from the dealer than from a private sale.

Appears to be a reproduction dash and tach. 454 emblems appear to low under the SS and may be crooked.

I would check the rag joint. It may be a small block type. They blew past it in the video to fast for me to pick it out.

70 SS had 14 inch wheels, those might be 15" repops.

Vynil top under right A pillar not looking good. Rust?

I'm seeing clone....but it's pretty nice.

Where did you get this picture? That looks original. See how the filter flange and box are 2 pieces attached to the hood? The repops are one piece attached to the bottom of the hood.

Earlier hoods had smaller front triangles than later production hoods.

I was thinking it was a repo but wasn't sure
I have been on the verge all day of putting a deposit on it
I also noticed the spots on the a pillar but wasn't sure if it could be rust or imperfection in the top
I did speak with them Friday and they said it had the big block bolt in the rag joint
I am not sure what to do
I really like the car but don't want to get screwed either
I'm worried that a repo hood will end up bothering me over time but that car reAlly looks well done to me

Re: Looking at this 70

I don't see any issues with that reproduction hood. They got it to fit the fenders nicely. It was nearly impossible for me to tell it was a reproduction with the hood closed.

The price is what concerns me the most. You're paying a hefty premium for the convenience of buying from a dealer. I wouldn't trust the ebay bids.

From what I see, you'll be paying the price of a documented SS for a clone.

It should have stiffener brackets on the front of the rear trailing arm mounts to the frame if the car came with the F-41 suspension. I don't see them.

I would not put a nickle on it without seeing it in person. That viynl might be ready to pop. I'd be all over that car with one of these as pretty doesn't last over poor body work. I'm not seeing poor work, I would just need to know before I dropped that much cash.
