That's a real cool find and glad she'll be looking great again instead of rotting away somewhere

I would make it run and drive it as is. looks like a bad a$$ street racer from the 70's.

Pull door panels, sheet may be stuck to them. Open doors and look at the backs of the front fenders. Pull backs off of the bucket seats, look under them also.

My build sheet was under the carpet on the driver's side half way up the transmission hump. Good luck and congratulations!

Where was the car built? Knowing that will go a long way in finding the build sheet if it exists.

With Arlington cars you have a 50-50 shot from my experience. If found, most of the time they are under the carpet and possibly under the sticky tar paper on the front floor board.

Couple more places I have heard of them. On top of glove box and in between inner fender and fender. Slim chance but you never know.
Also sadly it may have been found and tossed by someone that didn't know what they were looking at. I know a guy that did that to his 68 during a restoration.

‘68 138 VIN will show it’s an SS, ‘70 is mostly a guess without documentation

Yes I am well aware of that. This particular car was not an SS. Owners of non SS cars are still interested in finding build sheets. Also " a guess without documentation" is not accurate. Certain big blocks were only available in an SS. So a numbers matching big block is just as good as documentation.

In 1970 the standard SS hood was the domed hood. They were just solid body color, They did not have stripes. The Triple Black 1970 LS-5/ M-22 El Camino SS that I ordered has a bench seat.
