Exactly. That pretty much resumes what I was trying to say to "the Lizard King" but he thinks I'm being "sarcastic"… Too bad he took it like that 'cause the term "realistic" would've been more appropriate.

I would think SEMA cars are written off as a business expense. So sell at a loss ( which they will) and write off the loss.

Advertising?

Having a car at SEMA likely brings in more work, than if they were to just stick to your car and get'er done.

SEMA is like a trade show for shops. I work in the Aerospace industry, and companies will spend big money to send machines & whatnot to show off at trade shows, machines they never sell, sometimes scrap...

I never said you were sarcastic; in this particular situation, quite dense, yes, but not sarcastic.

I implied that you didn't detect my sarcasm with post #2:

"Worth every penny I'm sure."

In other words, I really don't think it's worth north of $500K.

As with all jokes, now that I had to explain the joke to you, it doesn't seem nearly as funny.

$500K? San Francisco area? My backyard! Since I like it, after all it is a 69, the best very year, I'll just sell some Apple, Google stock and buy it! Won't the wife be surprised?

Sent with much sarcasm...

But it may also be true...

My car is here:

Not zero. I paid someone to restore my car, and I guarantee it is worth way more than I have in it. I agree that your statement is true MOST of the time, but not always.

For comparison, look at this awesome pro-touring 66 Chevelle that only brought 64k at the Mecum auction in Vegas today :

Re: 1/2 Million $$$ Chevelle

Selling the cost of labor, that's hilarious.

Just cause that guy spent $509k to have a car built because he had no skills of his own, doesn't make it worth that. I bet if you looked through the receipts, you'd see $100k just in overtime paid just to complete it in time for SEMA.

Re: 1/2 Million $$$ Chevelle

Look like the classic scam ads I deal with at work on a regular basis. Scammer finds photos online and "sells" the car. No contact is ever made in person and once the car is "sold", the seller requests the buyer makes payment with I tune cards to their fake pay pal or e bay account.

If Im putting out big bucks for one of these cars, I dont want them to hurry. Anything rushed is sometimes cutting corners. Im not saying drag your azz either.

I can buy a fair size house with a big garage in my area and have money left over for a few garden variety cars and have more fun with them
