Possibly a nice 65 SS? I really don't know! I wish I did!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/323122008342

The ad is about as piss poor as you can get for an asking price of $30K. Here's the totality of the description:

"I have only owned this car less than a year, a move is the reason I'm selling it. It's very fast and is a real driver. please message with any questions. Matching numbers."

Yup. That's it. The seller has posted only 4 pics, 2 of which are pretty uninformative. I decided to write the seller. Here is my PM to him:

"You want $30K and you provide only 3 exterior pics and 1 engine bay pic. No pics of the interior? No pics of the undercarriage? No pics of the trunk interior? Good luck with sale, but without a little more effort on your part, you won't sell it at the price you want with the current ad you have up."

The seller's reply? One word: "Reported"

[rant]WTF? What a moron. Oh, well. I love 65s, but I'll be damned if I'm going to even come close to bid $30K for this car when the seller cares so little about his listing in the first place.[/rant]

Maybe you were a little harsh on the guy?????? You probably could have gotten the information and pictures from him if you asked for them. Looks like that bridge has been blown clean out of the canyon.

You are right, it’s a horrible ad. However, policing other people’s ads in an impolite manner doesn’t accomplish anything. This should have been one of those instances where it feels good to write the response, then push the delete button, not send.

The car was listed once before with the exact same ad. He comes across as frustrated, he may not want to sell the car but but might be forced because he’s moving, dealing with buyers is not helping matters either. I’m sure more than a few people have sent him snarky responses trying to edjucate him about how bad his ad is.

I dont blame the guy. Policing anyones ad is wrong in just about any internet venue.

Bridge for sale. Needs a little work, but great income potential. Make reasonable offer.

I dont know but, when I try to sell on ebay,I try to sell as cheap as I can.
Meaning, use less pictures and tell a potential buyer to ask questions and I would sent the info they ask for.
The more pics you put up,the more it cost you.
So, a serious buyer would get more info and a "not so serious" buyer would get reported.

Looks like a pretty nice car. I agree needs some more info and a few more photos for a final judgment. Engine bay looks nice.

Re: Possibly a nice 65 SS? I really don't know! I wish I did!

To the OP, everyone who has responded to your post have made valid points. I have given up looking for another 1965 SS (my personal favorite) because of ads like this with sellers that don't have a clue how to best market their car and are to some extent unable or unwilling to provide requested information and photos. Most seem to beat around the bush so to speak and tend to be cautiously deceptive at best. I won't even go into the consignment dealers that "procure" private ads and represent them as their own. The only ones I found that clearly represented the vehicle had "wishful thinking" price tags associated with them and sellers unwilling to deal. They obviously did not want to sell the vehicle to me. To this end, I went out and purchased a new "fun" vehicle yesterday!

Re: Possibly a nice 65 SS? I really don't know! I wish I did!

I really wasn't trying to be rude to the seller, but I can see how he and some of you could think that with the tone of my PM to him.

I didn't question his price at $30K. That would be the very top of my price range for a 64 or 65, but it would have to be a very special 64 or 65 for that price to me. It would have to be (mostly) original with a more powerful engine than a 283 and with a manual transmission at the very least. The ad frustrated me, because I couldn't ascertain whether it checked off all my wants/needs before I contact the seller about seeing the car and having it inspected.

So no. I don't think that this seller would sell it to me even if I met his price based on his reply to my PM. That's OK, as there are lots of 64 or 65 SS Chevelles out there to choose from.

Of course, the seller could tell by what you said that you were not a buyer, why even reply to you at all. I would have just ignored your message.

Not sure what a bridge has to do with this.

I was just being facetious Dean, if someone would buy that car based on that ad, maybe they would buy a bridge. Just being silly.

Re: Possibly a nice 65 SS? I really don't know! I wish I did!

If the seller posts an ad with such limited info and pictures he should expect those kind of replies. Some people must have thin skin if a constructive reply offends you that bad. I once called a guy about his project 65 Malibu ad. It had limited pictures also. Since I live 4.5 hours away from him I asked if he could e-mail or text me a few pictures of certain areas. He told me flat out no. I don't get it cause e-mailed or texted pictures cost nothing to send. I ended the call after he told me three times that the car came with three used master cylinders in the trunk.

The seller must've taken my PM to heart, because now there are now four more pics (2 of the interior, 1 of the undercarriage and 1 of the trunk interior). Still a crappy ad, but this is progress.

The seats and steering wheel are a huge turn-off for me, but that's just my taste in 65s.

WTH is that thing on the center console in between the seats, though? EDIT: Nevermind, it's a can of nitrous oxide.
