Is it safe to say this black car was ordered with the Steelers or Pirates in mind with the color scheme

No, LOL. Original owner changed stripe color to go with the saddle interior. The Steelers were horrible at that point too but the Pirates were pretty good.

That's what I was going for! I'd say $140K minimum, but I just watched a Mecum LS6 sell for I believe $180K (and 10% buyers premium) a few weeks ago.

So, who was Leapin Lena?

That may be true, but those modification add character.

In 1971 or 1972 one of my coworkers who was at least 35 years my senior knew my car was a performance car (hot rod in his mind}. One day at work this jovial and very nice gentleman asked me out of the blue how Leapin’ Lena was running.

I have no idea where he came up with that particular name but I liked it, so I put that name on the dash with a not-so classy looking tape-writer pressure label. That label has been on the dash for over forty years.

As usual, Andy is right
If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway.

I have to keep reminding myself this isn't a Z16 convertible, Evening Orchid Camaro, or factory 1966 SS427 and get on with it.

Re: LS6-1100 original miles

I worked with a guy who bought a brand new 69 SS 396 he picked up in the morning, he showed up later at the gas station with a trunk full of stuff... wheels, shifter, carb, intake and headers, Sun tach and gauges, and a ****ty Kraco 8 track with some cheap round chrome speakers he hacked into the door panels. His was a "day 1" car, I guess I couldn't believe he was tearing into the car the same day he bought it. I distinctly remember the wheels, they were chromed slotted wheels, could not believe he took the SS wheels off and replaced them with steel slots! He beat that car to death from day 1, blew it up I think within the first month he had it. So yeah, day 2 is for real, except this case it was day 1!

I've seen one go for considerably more than 180,000. It all comes down to the buyer, and the buyers I'am aware of want survivors.
