67 Chevelle

Hey everyone my name is Lafe. My dad and grandpa basically rebuilt this 67 chevelle back in 1986 when my dad was in high school. It got quite a bit of use in the late 80s and early 90s but since then has barely seen the road. A few years ago my dad passed the car down to me. Ive realized what a shame it is to not take advantage of this car, and decided to put as much time/effort/money as I can into it. Unfortunately, my dad doesn't have the time or passion for it anymore and since I am young my knowledge it limited. Im excited to see the resources online such as this to help along the way. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the site Lafe. As 65cayne noted that "hand me down" couldn't be much larger - except for maybe a house. From the pics, the body appears to be in great condition. An original SS?

I've spent most of my money on women and guns. The rest I just wasted...

Re: 67 Chevelle

Lafe, welcome to TC! I ddint get a hand-me-down, but a $6000 67 SS car to stick my old 427 in, that I built when I was maybe younger than you!

I was pretty comfortable around the engine bay, but the Team was super helpful in every other unknown to me. I think I even gave proper credit in the feature they put up here right after it got its RR code coat back on. https://www.chevelles.com/feature/october2000.html

Yeah, I still have car. You've come across a very good knowledge base of experienced restorers, collectors and just plain owners, unlike social media where everyone is an expert, even the hacks. It has it place. Also, I hope you find some old school civility here as well.

You could have a lifetime of fun with that old car! I know I'm tryin' to!

It runs pretty decent-that is before I fried the wires coming of the starter two weeks ago-which prompted me to completely rewire the car. Since im already rewiring everything and have the dash off, I decided to replace the speedometer, glove box fascia, dash strip/knobs, heater assembly, and all the gauges.

Nice 67! Hell of a hand me down, cherish it.

Tighten it till it strips and back it off a quarter turn.

Welcome Lafe, to Team Chevelle.....

When I works, I works hard.
When I sits, I sits loose.
When I thinks, I falls asleep.
