71 Chevelle Roof Option

All, I have a 71 Chevelle base 2dr. I am looking at roof options, T-TOP, Sunroof? this doesn't seem to be a popular thing. Does anyone have a lead on these type of conversions. Are there issues with doing this?

She was on the way to the crusher and requires all new / used parts.

thanks for your input.

The roof skins are available to repair a rusted or cutup roof.If you're doing a custom you can do whatever you want to a Chevelle, just be aware that your resale value won't be what a non-cutup Chevelle would be.Also it will most likely take much longer to sell.

Sam, sunroofs or t-tops don't belong on a Chevelle. I think there are only three acceptable "roof possibilities " for a Chevelle:
1 solid painted roof,
2 vinyl roof with chrome mouldings,
3 roof painted another color (black, white, etc...) also with chrome mouldings.

Re: 71 Chevelle Roof Option

After convertibles were discontinued with the last 1976 Eldorado there was a surge in convertible conversions, sun roof & T-roof conversions in the late 70 into the early 80's. The T-top was typically the Hurst Hatch, known for leaking. When you cut the roof your rockers had better already have extra bracing added as you will lose body strength.

You would be doing the conversion for your own amusement. Resale would be difficult as most people would shy away from purchasing a T-top conversion because of potential issues real or imagined.
