Here for my Bro

My brother is a Chevy guy and isn't very tech saavy and I thought I would help him out by occasionally visiting the forum to post questions he might have about his car build (numbers matching '68 El Camino SS396). He started a frame up restoration over 20 years ago and is FINALLY putting his car back together. Yay brother--about friggin time.

Cheers and looking forward to learning more from y'all in the forums. THis is a great community and I have already lurked here a few times over on an informative FiTech install thread--putting one in my '73 F250.

(Oh, and if you happen to have a bead on a '67 390 Ranchero, shoot me a PM. ;-) )

Edit: I added a couple of pics as the car just came out of body and paint--still has not been cut and buffed in these pics but tis looking not bad, for a Chebby.

Welcome to Team Chevelle.....

When I works, I works hard.
When I sits, I sits loose.
When I thinks, I falls asleep.

Re: Here for my Bro

Thanks for the nice welcome, all! I really do dig chevelles, especially gen 1 and 2.

@shovelrick , your car's color looks similar to my brother's car. Nice. But I hope like hell you didnt have the same paint issues. He went with some PPG paint that is *all* pearl, no metallic. It mottled 2 or 3 times before they got it right.

@SFD I am partial to the 67 with it's Fairlane good looks. My long term plan is to swap the motor from my 73 F250 into a 390 Ranchero then sell the truck. It's a 446 stroker and respectably moves the beastly 3/4 ton. Would be even more better in a Ranch.

@elco68 thanks! and for the comment on the other thread. If you have a link to your car photos shoot it over and I will share it with my brother. He would be thrilled to see a fellow SS396 elco owner. Is it true they only made ~5,000 of these cars? That's what I heard. Crazy.

Welcome to Team Chevelle. As soon as he gets that ElCamino running, you'll become a Chevy guy too.

Welcome to the forum! Slow and steady wins the race when restoring haha! Glad to see progress on an older project, I would have given up and sold it by now.
