Back in the driver's seat.

After a long drawn out LS swap project and a false-start last year, with some breakage due to my own negligence, my Chevelle is back to doing what I built it to do. It's been roadworthy again for about 5 weeks, and just completed its 3rd weekend of autocross in a row.

We did Goodguys in Des Moines, a local Corvette club event, and Street Machine Challenge in St. Paul. The only issue thus-far has been an idler bearing pulley, which took 1/2 hour and $25 to fix.

After ~9 years away from it, I'm rusty as hell at driving. Lots to work on there! The car is working pretty well, but not quite where I want it to be. I haven't corner-weighed it yet, or really dialed it in, as I'm sick of working on it and just want to drive...

It's good to be back! ...now to catch back up to the guys who have been doing this the whole time I was out of the game...

That is one cool looking Chevelle, and I typically don't like larger wheels on classics. Very nice.

Looks great Derek! Wish I had known you were at Good Guys, I would have looked you up! Do you have a thread of what you did to the engine? Specs, etc...

Re: Back in the driver's seat.

The engine was a weird eBay deal. I bought it as a stock LS1/T56 out of a wrecked '00 Camaro SS that the guy bought on a salvage auction to part out. When I pulled the pan off, I found a 4" stroker crank, Eagle H-beam rods, forged pistons, all ARP hardware, studded mains, etc inside. The heads are unknown ported 853s, which I think might be why it's falling off after 5600rpm. We put a BTR Stage 2 LS1 cam in it, FAST 92 intake and TB, and Edelbrock headers (discontinued a while ago).
