'66 - '67 Dakota Digital RTX

Has anyone installed one of the new Dakota Digital RTX gauge clusters? If so, can you put the tach up in one of the screens so you can get an actual reading rather than the bar? I like the looks, but just wish the speedo was a 140 or 160 rather than a 120. I figure I can live with this since you can display the speedo digitally and I won't go north of 120 very often. I would like to see the actual tach reading though rather than just the bar.

Here's a video I saw of it

I was just looking at those as well and have the same question. Looks to me the tach is a bar under the speedo display.

Wonder if the tach display can be disabled and just run a blinker tach for an original ‘look’?

Yes. Instead of the connecting the distributor tach wire to the Dakota control module - simply connect it to the remote tach.

I had the HDX digital dash installed in my '67 a year ago. I saw this new RTX dash and like how it maintains the original retro look, although I do like the HDX instruments as they provide more accurate readouts on temperature, voltage and oil pressure rather than the original "low to high".

It looks like they have some numbers between the "low to high" and it looks like you can get a digital read out of the gauges.

I like the looks of it but am torn a bit between this vs the HDX unit because of the tach and granularity of the gauges.

In looking at a picture of an original cluster vs the RTX I'm not sure the layout would work. It looks like the gauges are moved out further on the RTX vs the original. The tach may cover up too much of the LH gauge.

Re: '66 - '67 Dakota Digital RTX

FYI - I emailed Dakota Digital and asked them if you can display the actual RPM reading in one of the two displays and this was the response from Joel Hegg at DD.

"Yes, you can display any of the regular six gauge readouts AND up to an additional 16 gauge readouts in those message centers. We have you covered both ways!"
