Oh ok. Cause I welded the X member mounts the other way per their instructions. I have been wondering where the trans mount pad sits in relation to the bottom of the frame where the X member used to bolt to the frame. Is the mount pad flush with the bottom of the frame or about the middle?

The mount for the x member is 1.5" above the bottom of the frame rail.

If you welded your's per the instructions then you are probably 3/4" bellow the original location. If you use the weld on "L" bracket for the factory x member it shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Troy Built 66 Chevelle LS3/T56

I sent the frame to the frame shop, as suspected the right frame horn was one inch higher than it should be. Hopefully this cures the small issue I had with tie rod clearance on the bottom of the oil pan on that side.

I also got the rear diff back freshly built with 3:73 gears and posi traction.

Re: Troy Built 66 Chevelle LS3/T56

It's been a while since I've posted any updates. Been a lot waiting for parts to do the coil over conversion. I have all the rear parts and pretty much have everythin done except some welding.

Looking nice! What dimension coilover did you go with? How long are they? What is the spring rating?

Thank's Dan

The shocks are 14.52" extended length and have 5.15" of travel. They use a 12" spring and were shipped with a 250# spring rate.

Re: Troy Built 66 Chevelle LS3/T56

I got the coil over upper mount welded in and the back half boxed.

Just need the front coil overs to locate the front mounts.

Re: Troy Built 66 Chevelle LS3/T56

Stopped by the body shop today. They are starting to make good progress.

Still waiting on the front coil overs, talked to them today and they said they should ship this week.

Re: Troy Built 66 Chevelle LS3/T56

Still waiting on the front coil overs, any day now.

So I decided to mock up the AFX tall spindles. Makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something.

Good stuff! You have a lot of nice hardware. It’s going to be one sweet ride! Are those the Speedtech upper coil over towers?

Yes on the Speedteck coil over mounts. Also the spindles are from Chassis Works.
