Chrome Plating Needed

Does anyone have any recommendations for chrome plating specifically both bumper on my 72 Chevelle. I had a price from Sandy's and low and behold you call them back and the price changes...I wasn't impressed and they didn't seem to care which really surprised me.

Anyways any recommendations for upper NY State and on another note whats your opinion on aftermarket bumpers and recommendations please.

Tri-city is your best bet for bumpers.

Re: Chrome Plating Needed

Tri City in Tennessee gets all my business for bumpers. Lifetime warranty to the original purchaser. Chevelle bumpers are about $345 each I think. Paul's is way to expensive.

I'm with Jeff per Paul's in Evans City, Pa. Easy to deal with, good service, etc..I had some rare vintage motorcycle parts plated at Paul's a few years ago and the quality is outstanding...Check their website out..

I would beg to differ about Paul's. They did a very, very poor job on my headlight bezels. They left craters of the moon. Granted, the communication with them was through an equally horrid restoration shop in Harrington DE, but there's no way I'd use Paul's again. Very expensive and poor quality.

I used Tri City for my bumpers and was highly impressed, especially considering the price.

Re: Chrome Plating Needed

I had both bumpers done two years ago. I contacted Pauls Chrome because he is only 1/2 hour from me. Pauls quote $1,200.00 each plus any repairs. I had one small dent and needed holes from bumper guards filled in rear bumper. Didn't even get into how much it would of been for repairs. Had them done at Tri City and the cost was around $700.00 for both bumpers including repairs.
Only problem is if you have them done now they will be there for a while. This time of year they are very busy. I sent mine in October and had them back in 3-4 weeks.
I have had items done at Paul's before. They do good work but are amongst the most expensive you will find.

Re: Chrome Plating Needed

TriCity is where I've bought bumpers before without any issues. Here's their link http://tricityplating.com/ They also go to a lot of shows during the year and bring an assortment on bumpers with them.

Paul's Chrome might do good work, but are highly priced.

Also, stay away from "The Bumpers Boyz" from California. Bad chroming on their bumpers, bad warranty & chrome peels off in a year.

Re: Chrome Plating Needed

I agree about the Bumper Boyz. They brought some of their work to a car show here in AZ a few years back. It was the worst quality I could imagine. They chromed over severe rust pits and called it good.

Re: Chrome Plating Needed

Ive heard so many negative things about Bumper Boyz for so many years now, its a miracle they are even still in business. Both in person and a lot of postings on the various car forums over the years. Pauls Chrome has always been good for advertising and their product looks nice but there are plenty of shops out there doing just as good for half the ridiculous price Paul's Chrome charges.
