Diecast air cleaner emblem is a winner

In some other thread there was discussion of air cleaner labels and someone mentioned air cleaner emblems that are being sold. They are a diecast interpretation of the original air cleaner stickers. I found one easily in the 427 style and even though it was on the pricey side, I really liked the idea. It gives the air cleaner call-out substance like the Z16 air cleaner emblem does. Also, assuming it holds up well to underhood heat, I won't be replacing the paper foil sticker every couple years to keep it looking nice. Additionally, they are attached with foam 3M tape adhesive so there is no need to worry about drilling holes for studs. Win, win, win.

I was floored with the quality look of the emblem and the heavy substance of it. The chrome is nothing short of incredible, show quality does not begin to describe it. On top of that, the background painted colors are amazingly smooth with deep color and contains no flaws I can spot, it almost looks like a very large cloisonne' pin.

The adhesive is very powerful so don't expect to move it around while adhering it, you've got one shot only! The gentle curve fits the curve of the Chevy open element lid perfectly. The size and proportion is dead on to the sticker it emulates.

I can find absolutely nothing to criticize. We'll have to see how the looks and adhesive hold up to underhood heat but I see no reason for success here as well.

They are available from various vendors. I got mine off ebay, best price I could find was there.

Uh, the wing nut, you wing nut.

The photo is just showing a comparison between the emblem and the original sticker. More photos to follow when the sun comes up, chrome doesn't photograph well with a flash.

Re: Diecast air cleaner emblem is a winner

Rich, thanks for posting this

I was looking at those on GrdUps site the other day and wonder if they were of a good quality or not

And if the glue sircomes to the under hood heat,
I guess a hole could be drilled in the emblem and Air Cleaner lid for a bolt/screw to attach it
