SO, this post is only 12.5 years old ... and the OP hasn't been here in some 12 years.

Maybe you should copy and paste your question into a brand new thread of your very own, since it seems unlikely the OP will be back to reply.

Re: Bad Rattle Behind Dash

Aww shucks, that's no fun. I too have a squeak that is intermittent and above 40 mph in a 66 but it sounds as if it's in the back somewhere although folks have suggested it's in the steering column. I have spent hours on my back doing research on this particular squeak and to no avail, so now I call it my pet mouse in the back noise. The worse thing is it is not consistent.
When I'm bored I keep looking for the culprit.

Get a set of young ears to ride with you. They can hear better, and can move around, stick their head under the dash some and pinpoint it better.

Re: Bad Rattle Behind Dash

Check your gas pedal linkage unless you have a cable, hard linkage can vibrate and probably make odd sounds

Re: Bad Rattle Behind Dash

I had a rattle that took me almost forever to find, it was the windshield trim pieces.
