I did a search of this site and found the answer. There's tons of useful information on this site, and the search function is easy to use.

The second link you showed is closer to original and may be worth a try. The interior of my 72' is black and so is this matting/flooring. Unlike carpet, t does show just about every footprint. It is probably stiffer than the factory product as well, but with some summer temps it does settle down and conform pretty well. Lay it out in the sun to loosen up before installing.

Re: heavy chevy rubber floor

The ACC rubber floor in the Amazon link is challenging to install but looks pretty good when complete. I just wish I wouldn't have seen that link, I paid $260 a year ago for the same product!

Re: heavy chevy rubber floor

If your Chevelle sees temperature / humidity changes (in other words if it doesn't live in a museum) it behooves you to roll back the rubber flooring annually to search for accumulated sweat from the rubber & dry the floor out. Carpet will wick up moisture & evaporate, but rubber just smothers the moisture & it stays until something gives.

Re: heavy chevy rubber floor

Not sure why you would want to do it. I took the original rubber floor out of mine back in 1972 when it was 6 months old and replaced it with carpet out of a wrecked 71 SS from the junkyard

The guy is brand new here. Maybe try to welcome him first & give him the answer & suggest a search at the end of your post. This place is dying off & responses like yours aren't helping.

Re: heavy chevy rubber floor

Good concerns when choosing the rubber floor. They have their advantages also, especially if you appreciate giving your chevelle what it had originally. A good layer of dynomatt, fatmat, or similar, minimal jute padding, and making sure you don't carry water onto your floors will all aid in giving your floors a fighting chance.
I love the look, and it'll set your car apart.

That looks great, Jerry!

I had no idea these were available. I'd been wondering what to do for my 2 door wagon. Now I have the answer!

Re: heavy chevy rubber floor

Man it's been a long time ago, but if I remember correctly. My first (72) Heavy's rubber mat was molded (designed) to look like carpet. The one I have now has some cheep carpet in it. I don't believe the original mat is under the carpet but haven't really looked. Good luck with the hunt and if you ever find the correct mat, please post the info.
