Tire size needed for skinny’s

I Ordered 15 x 4” wheels and would like to know what tire size I would need to fill in the wheel well good on a 1972. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Tire size needed for skinny’s

I have 15x4" on my car and run a 205-75-15 Hankook tire. I think it calls for a 5" wide rim but I have not had any problems with them.

I used to run 5.60's or 6.40's (a no longer listed size) on my 15x4's. The chart above might help you make a choice.

Re: Tire size needed for skinny’s

In the late 60s & 70s , Most folks used "VWs"- 640 X 15". Thats what I used.

Not sure what is on the market today, The 640 X 15" had a very nice look.

That's what's on my Malibu. There's a not-great picture of it in my profile.

Re: Tire size needed for skinny’s

The “VW” tire size is 165/SR/15, I think it’s 27 inches tall. Too short of a tire will throw off the look of the car.
