Air compressor mount

So I bought a 350 crate motor with vortec heads...and my air compressor mount no longer fits due to the larger heads. It’s a 1972 chevelle with factory air. I cannot find anyone who carries brackets that fit a factory style compressor that mounts using only the front. I still want it on the drivers side of the motor. Anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome this issue?

Re: Air compressor mount

Cut and weld. Welcome to hot rodding. Cut off the part of the bracket that still works, mount the compressor, use plate to extend it where you need it to mount to the new head and weld it all up.

Re: Air compressor mount

When I installed a 67 Camaro 396 engine in my 70 Chevelle Wgn. It had only one bolt hole in the head for the A/C compressor to mount. So,,, I go to my scrap metal pile and look and started cutting and welding.
Thats why its called " Hot Rodding ".................

P.S. if anyone has a B.B. with the old style heads & 13/16 plugs and need a A/C mount for a 70-72 you can have it. I moved up to a new style 468.

Re: Air compressor mount

You might try Alan Grove. They build a/c brackets for about anything.

Thanks for all the input! I might just upgrade the compressor to a Sanden so I can buy prefab’d brackets. Thanks again!
