I was tearing apart a bucket seat and came across a build sheet inside it. Ive heard of them being in the rear seat, under the floor and even on top of gas tanks but never there. Was this a common place one of the factories put them?
They weren't put there, they were left there by lazy line workers who did not toss them after they installed whatever they installed at their work station. Terry
I know this is the general consensus, but sometimes I wonder if there also was a chance that some workers thought that someday someone would like to find this build sheet.
I bought several boxes of magazines a few years ago from someone that was retiring and moving. He included one box containing miscellaneous items such as a stack of owners manuals, racing posters and obscure racing publications, included were two 1970 Chevelle/El Camino build sheets. The el Camino was a non-SS big block, the Chevelle was a small block 4spd. He didn’t own either car and didn’t remember how he came across them.
I have an extra set of buckets, and one of them has a build sheet in it (not for my car obviously). I have done an initial probing and it is very delicate. I am going to have to disassemble the whole bottom section to get it out, and it will still likely come out in many pieces.
Yeah the one I found basically crumbled when I took it out. I had hoped to save it and maybe reunite it with the car it came from. All I can really tell is that it had a BB radiator (assuming that stands for big block?)
While running speaker wires in my new`67, I found the build sheet stuffed in the springs under the passenger side bucket. I looked at it for a few seconds before I tossed it.
