My cold air intake

Iíve been asking some questions about cold air intake and taking air in from behind the front bumper and now Iíve completed the air intake portion. I still need to add a deflector behind the bumper and forward of the tire to force the air up through the hole I cut.
I used sheet aluminum for the surround, some scrap carbon fiber for the lid, a Spectre filter and boot for through the aluminum wall. The intake tube is 3.5Ē aluminum and I insulated it end to end.
Under the filter I cut a 4Ē round hole in the horizontal section of the inner fender allowing air in from below. This where I still need to add a deflector to force air up.
Iím also going to relocate the front turn signals to the larger center cutouts so the existing hole on the drivers side will flow directly into the are below the filter and hit the deflector.
Iíll post more pics when I finish the deflector.

Looks like it should work. Once it’s running look at your IAT factory computer would be with the obd plug and a scan tool. See if it’s close to the outside temp.

Re: My cold air intake

It looks good. You are definitely on the right track. I had a K&N FIPK kit on my 2001 Silverado. The kit alone picked up a tenth, when I would take out the headlight, creating a 5x7 opening and sealing the partition to the inner fender and radiator support with duct tape and cardboard, it picked up an additional fifteen hundredths.

Re: My cold air intake

I used my Front HeadLight Openings for mine

No cutting, just moved stuff around and drilled some Holes

I looked at various ways to do it

and I thought about doing a Box behind the HeadLights but went with the Spectre Ram Air Kit

Re: My cold air intake

I also thought about the headlight intake using the adaptor and screen that Spectre offers. But I drive my car everyday and a lot at night so I didnít want to lose one headlight.
