'67 Style Radio Knobs to fit Split-shift Aftermarket Radios

Has anyone found '67 style knobs that will work on the split-shafts that the aftermaket radios have? I just got a nice set of repro. metal knobs that the phone person told me would fit (even told him which radio). The rear knobs fit fine, but it looks like, at best, you'd have to pinch the split-shaft together to get it on. Anyone found something, or know of a fix? Thanks.

These are the knobs I got with my RetroSound radio. While that is aftermarket, I don't recall how their shafts are. I can check tonight if I remember, but the internet should know.

They are cast metal and chrome plated. They feel very nice.

Thanks, that's exactly what the shafts are on mine. I'll look into buying knobs from them. I had one of their radios in my '67 Beetle, but went with a Custom Autosound USA-740 this time.

I think the knobs are actually the best part of the radio, they feel and look just plain right. I just wish that they had a better bezel for the funky curved angled 1967 Chevelle dash piece. I would make my own, but getting a chromish finish would be hard to match.

Thanks, Ed, you've been very helpful. I called the supplier I got the knobs from to see about returning them. They also carry the Retro knobs. The rear knobs I got do fit and are the "3 fin" '67 style, so he said send the front knobs back and they'll swap them for Retro front knobs. Great service in my book. Your post clued me in to the Retro version; thanks again.

Great, hope they work out for you. I thought the 3 fin were 66 style, I can't keep track.

As far as 3-Fin, I'm just going by what they sent as '67s and the pictures of '67 Radios I Googled, so take it with a grain of salt. You could be right.

I spent a good bit looking on chevellestuff.net, and couldn't find radio details, I really thought it was there.
I have what is supposedly a 1967 AM radio sitting in my garage I got from a swap meet, the knobs are definitely wrong on it, and don't even work together. They may be 66 back, and 67 front, or the other way around. I may open it up some day and add modern guts to it, so it looks right.
All I know is 67 everything in the dash is flatter/smoother/rounded compared to 66 for safety, even the black pushbuttons are rounded in 67 compared to 66.

shows some details,
looks like 66 is narrow and ridged, 65, 67,68 are 3 tabs.

Re: '67 Style Radio Knobs to fit Split-shift Aftermarket Radios

Thats a great, helpful site, thanks. Since I won't have a slide-bar, it won't be fully correct anyway. At least, the front knobs will be right and match the other dash knobs, so I guess that's the main thing.
